General Parasitology (BIOL 4104)

Course Description (BIOL 4104): This course is an introduction to the biology of parasitism, which is one category of symbiosis. You will learn the distinguishing features of (1) the major animal groups which contain parasitic members, (2) the associations between parasites and hosts, and (3) solutions to the problems of a parasitic way of life. Often we will study examples of parasites that affect human beings. I hope that when you complete this course you have a broader understanding of the place of parasitism among symbiotic relationships as well as a wider view of the importance of symbiosis in living communities.
